Sometimes things go wrong! (This weeks dilemma)

Jul 26, 2024

Every week we deal with big things and little things that we have to try and resolve. My cortisol levels usually peak at least once a day. Thankfully, we have a wonderful team and together we sort out any issues that arise and I’m learning to trust the process.

I’d like to share this week’s dilemma with you.

We ordered chuck direct from my mum’s farm, but due to a miscommunication, her butcher sent us a combination of chuck, silverside and topside. We don’t cook with silverside or topside because they are not ideal for slow cooking and our meals cook for approx 4 hours in order to get the meat super tender. That’s (partly) what makes them so delicious.

It wasn’t until we had cooked the entire batch that we realised the meat wasn’t as tender as usual. A few texts between mum and Scott confirmed the mistake. And also that the previous delivery was the same.

At least it had only been used for two dishes: Stroganoff and Steak and Ale. But I laid awake, trying to work out what to do. “Do we throw out the entire two batches? 180 meals is a lot to waste! But what if someone isn’t wowed, and now their whole experience is ruined?” Yes. These are the questions that keep me awake.

So... here’s what we’ve decided to do.

One, share this little story.

Two, heavily discount this weeks effected meals (Stroganoff and Steak and Ale Pie).

And three, offer a refund for anyone who ordered the last batch of Stroganoff and was disappointed. The meat should be tender, if it wasn’t we’re happy to refund that meal. Please just send us an email to orders@thegoodfarmshop.com with your order number and we’ll sort it out.

Thanks for reading.

Til and Scott x
