Gluten: What You Might Not Know
Let’s talk about gluten.
You might’ve noticed that all of our meals at The Good Farm Shop are 100% gluten free. But we've never really explained why. It’s not about following a trend. And it’s not just for coeliacs.
It’s about making food that’s truly nourishing—for everyone.
🌾 What is gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and some oats. It’s in bread, pasta, flour, cereals, sauces—even stock powders and soy sauce.
It gives dough its stretch. But for many people, it also gives gut irritation, inflammation, and fatigue—without them ever knowing it.
😕 So many people react without realising
Some people have coeliac disease, where gluten damages the small intestine.
But many more have what's called non-coeliac gluten sensitivity. That might look like:
-
Bloating or sluggish digestion
-
Skin issues
-
Brain fog or fatigue after eating
-
Mood changes or anxiety
-
Joint pain or inflammation
You don’t have to be “gluten free” to feel better without gluten.
👨🍳 So here’s what we do
We make meals that everyone can eat—without compromising on taste or texture. Our meals are:
-
Made with organic, whole food ingredients
-
Carefully sourced (no cross-contamination risk)
-
Full of flavour—no flour needed
We’re not anti-gluten. We’re pro-real-food. And when we saw how many of our customers—and family members—felt better without it, the decision was simple.
We make gluten free meals so you don’t have to overthink it.
Just eat. Feel good. Repeat.
❤️ Three of our favourites this week:
🥧 Cottage Pie – With buttery mash on top and rich, saucy beef underneath.
🍛 Zan’s Lamb Madras – 14-hour slow-cooked lamb in bold, warming spices.
🐟 Nookie’s Tuna Mornay – Wild-caught tuna with a golden gluten free cheesy crumb.
